£2012+ Support Package

For September 2012 we have a financial support package worth over £2,012 accessible to all our full-time students. This means that you’re fully supported at University Centre at Blackburn College and aren’t disadvantaged by the rise in tuition fees. There are three parts to our £2012+ Support Package:

Credit Bonuses

When you enrol on your course all students will receive 1000 credits. Credits are Blackburn College currency. They’ll let you spend money on the things that matter to you and your course. If you need a camera for your photography degree, text books for your Law course or a brand new laptop you can use your credits to get the stuff you need!

You’ll receive 1000 credits for every year of your course so that you’re supported throughout your learning journey with us. You’ll be able to access your credits once you enrol. We’re working now on the list of things that you might want/need when you join your course.

No other College has such an innovative support package! And remember - you get credits in the later years of your course, too! As you move through the later years of your course we’ll change items that you’re able to redeem your credits against.

Later in the academic year we’ll announce more fully what the credit values are for items you might need. As we’ll be ordering the items on the list in bulk, we’ll ensure that the credit values that are assigned to different items reflect or are better than the price that you can get on the high street.

Achievement Bonuses

In addition to the credit bonus, we have three programmes of scholarships and bursaries that you might wish to apply for and take part in.

National Scholarship Programme

University Centre at Blackburn College is offering a scholarship to new students that begin their course with us as part of the National Scholarship Programme. The College will have 45 scholarships to award in 2012/13 and these entitle you to receive £6000 over two years of your course. We’re currently working on the rules surrounding who can apply. Progression Bonus

If you currently study on a Level 3 course at Blackburn College (including A Levels) you are eligible for an additional bonus of £500 as a one off payment. 100 of these payments will be made available for students applying to study in 2012. STEM Bonus

We are also offering 20 STEM Bursaries for 2012. 20 students choosing to study on a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths based course will be eligible for an additional bursary of £1000 as a one off payment. Career Bonuses

All students enrolling for 2012 will receive the option of free membership to the Chartered Management Institute. In value terms it’s worth over £1200 but you’ll get it for FREE on all courses provided you opt-in to the scheme.
