You will need to pay any fees relating to your course if applicable, including registration and examination fees. The College does not want finance to be a barrier to learning. If you are in genuine hardship, please contact the Student Finance and Welfare Officer in The Hub on 08442435499
FEE REDUCTION / FREE STUDY
19+ learners in receipt of certain state benefits, and anyone who is a named dependant of someone in receipt of these benefits, pays no tuition fee (and in some cases no examination fees) for part-time, government funded Further Education courses. If there are any additional fees applicable to the course you will be asked to make a 20% contribution towards them.
The state benefits for which tuition fees are waived are:
- Job Seekers Allowance
- Housing Benefit
- Working Tax Credit
- Income Support
- Council Tax Exemption
- ES Dependent (must be named on book)
- Pension Tax Credits
- Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
Please note Incapacity Benefit or reduced Council Tax is not an eligible benefit. If you are eligible for a fee reduction you will need to show evidence of your benefit status at the time of enrolment. Bring your benefit book or a photocopy of your bank or giro transfer statements (not a UB40) which must clearly show the type of benefit. Evidence of benefits must be provided each time you enrol. Students in receipt of Working Tax Credit (and their partners) need to bring an “Award Notice” which states how much, if anything has been deducted from their maximum credit. Rules relating to annual income must be followed. If you have lost your “Award Notice” you will need to get a duplicate from your Tax Office. If your receive Employment Support Allowance (ESA) you will need to bring a letter from the DWP Fee reductions are not available on courses which attract no government funding.
