Technical qualifications (also known as a BTEC, NVQ or Vocational) are a great way to gain real experience, skills and knowledge that will prepare you for your chosen career. You'll master your craft on our world class campus, complete with state-of-the-art facilities that have been designed in collaboration with our industry links. Vocational studies are ideal for those looking to progress to university, or directly into their chosen career and skills are taught through hands-on practical learning.

Entry requirements

Each Technical course will have its own unique set of entry requirements - depending on the level of the course and the subject area. Please check a subject's course leaflet for more information.

From 2017 onwards, there is a brand new GCSE grading system being phased in. The current A* to G system will eventually be replaced with a numerical system - ranging from 9 (highest) to 1 (lowest). Learn more about the new GCSE grading system and how this will affect the way your results will look.

English and maths development

English and maths development All full-time students aged 16-19 who have not yet achieved an A*-C in GCSE English or Maths will be required to work towards a GCSE Grade C in English and/or Maths as part of their study programme.
