Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the successful candidate will assist with running the finance function of the company. The role will be varied, but key responsibilities would be maintaining all aspects of the purchase ledger and assisting with the preparation of payroll.


Key responsibilities & activities:

  • Processing purchase orders, purchase invoices and supplier payments.

  • Liaising with suppliers for ordering and quotations.

  • Sourcing of suppliers/goods

  • Maintain/ renew contracts and leases including fleet.

  • Questioning of purchase orders/invoices

  • Monitoring monthly expenditure

  • Cash flow reporting

  • Maintain and review bank accounts and expenditure

  • Assist with the preparation of payroll information

  • Monitor payroll deadlines

  • Input of hours

  • Payroll correspondence

  • Dealing with payroll queries


As an AAT trainee, you will follow formal training through an apprenticeship framework for the AAT qualification. By joining our expanding office team as a trainee you be able to study a professional and well recognised qualification, whilst gaining hands on experience from day one. You will receive excellent in house training necessary to assist you in your role, from an experience AAT qualified accountant.

Requirements - Education, knowledge & Experience:

  • Ideally you will be working toward your AAT qualification, or be ready to enrol onto the course in September 2017

  • Strong IT skills – particularly experience of MS Excel.

Qualifications required

GCSE’s at Grades A*-C or equivalent in Maths and English.


Candidates will be required to undertake initial assessment at Blackburn College.
