Job Description


Vital Energi are at the forefront of the UK's low carbon energy generating systems of the future.

We essentially work in the construction industry, in a rapidly expanding market for Heat and Power Solutions from renewable energy.

As a leading turnkey engineering contractor, we design, install, operate and maintain environmentally friendly energy generating systems and networks.

Vital Energi is experiencing rapid and extensive growth, resulting in the HR Department requiring additional resource of an HR Administrator to assist with the Human Resources management of over 400 employees.

Reporting to the HR Manager, this role involves a broad range of HR duties which would suit an individual from a generalist background. The HR Assistant will be largely involved with administration duties (updating personnel records, pay reviews, employment contracts, inductions etc).

Key Duties


HR Administration

  • Acquire a basic understanding of the HR administration processes and procedures

  • Assist with the co-ordination of payroll administration

  • Ensure the relevant HR database and excel documents are up to date and maintain personal files

  • Deal with annual leave queries; booking leave on system etc

  • Assisting with general HR administration duties that fall within department’s remit as directed by the HR team

Training Administration

  • Update the database with employee qualifications/training courses

  • Assist where appropriate with any training administration tasks as requested by the Training Co-Ordinator/ HR Team


  • Ensure the filing room is kept tidy

  • Undertake and maintain HR & Training filing for the department to a satisfactory standard

  • Archiving

  • Acquire a basic understanding of the HR and Training administration processes and procedures

Person Specification

Skills and Abilities: IT literate, with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Able to plan, prioritise, use initiative and work accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines. Capable of working with minimum supervision on an individual, or team basis.

Knowledge and Experience whilst previous industry experience is not necessary an interest in working within Human Resources, and the aptitude to engage with multiple and varied tasks is essential.


  • Act as an ambassador for the team in your dealings with internal and external contacts

  • Promote and comply with the Company’s policies on equality and health and safety both in the delivery of service and the treatment of others.

  • Engage with your manager in reviewing your performance and planning your development.

  • Carry out other duties consistent with the nature, responsibilities and seniority of your post.

Qualifications required

5 GCSE’s Grade C and above – including Maths & English

Candidates will be required to undertake initial assessment at Blackburn College as part of the application process.
