Job Description


As a Childcare Apprentice at The Park Child and Family Centre in Accrington you will work as part of the nursery team to deliver quality play, learning and childcare provision for children under the age of five. You will work directly

with children from 0 - 5 years (and on occasions children up to 8 years), their parents and families. You will contribute to the sustainability and quality improvement of the nursery.


Main Duties

To support and provide a range of child-centred activities linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

To support and maintain high quality play.

To support and maintain a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

To provide and promote a sensitive learning environment for children, parents staff and volunteers.

To enable children to access appropriate packages of support which meets their individual needs.

With the consent of parents / carers, make observations which will contribute to the planning for children with specific needs to access specialist support / provision.

   To work to prevent family breakdown wherever possible, identify   as  early as possible, children at risk of harm and participate in all necessary Safeguarding Procedures.

    To work flexibly within the programme and be involved in out of working hours activities e.g. training, staff meetings, special events etc.

    To ensure that all work reflects cultural and social diversity, in accordance with sound equal opportunities, principles and practice.

    To observe the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act.

    To observe the Sure Start Hyndburn Non Smoking Policy.
