Westholme School, established in 1923, is a successful independent school located on the rural outskirts of Blackburn.
The school is based across 3 sites, providing a first class education to around 800 pupils, aged 3 months - 18 years.
The Nursery is looking to seek an Apprentice to work across the Early Years Department.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a small, friendly team who are dedicated to providing a high standard of care and education to children in our Early Years Department.
Job Purpose and Accountability
An Apprentice is a key member of the Early Years team responsible for delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children, based on the needs and interests of those children whilst undertaking a formal qualification in childcare.

contribute to the effectiveness of team work
complete a formal qualification in childcare within the set time frame
Duties and Responsibilities
Have a child centred approach to the running of the service
Encourage and model appropriate behaviour and expectations
Maintain accurate and effective children’s records
Respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality
Support, promote and implement policies relating to diversity and equality
Work well as part of a team
Work with the team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery day
Work in partnership with parents
Attend parent events and meetings as required
Promote the Nursery to current parents and potential customers
Work with other agencies to support children
Work with the training provider to complete a childcare qualification
Implement Westholme policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and other statutory requirements
Assist with observations and planning with the staff team
Assist with the care and educational experiences planned by the staff team for the children
Ensure that children are kept safe and where necessary follow child protection procedures
Practise positive behaviour management techniques
- Person Specification
A good level of written and spoken English
Enthusiastic, cheerful, friendly and energetic.
Someone who has an understanding of confidentiality and can work to high standards.
The Apprentice must be hardworking and willing to commit to a full induction and training programme.
Must have GCSE Maths and English grade C+
