St Augustine's is a mixed, 11-16, oversubscribed comprehensive school with 1030 pupils.

We require an enthusiastic, highly motivated Teaching Assistant for September 2016 start.

This post will be an opportunity for an aspiring Teaching Assistant to train within school.

We are looking to appoint an energetic and efficient person aged 18-24 who does not hold a Level 4 qualification/degree equivalent to work with young people in an educational environment.

You will be a team player who is committed to bringing out the best in the children in our care, and providing in-class support for pupils with a variety of needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with, and under the guidance of, the curriculum Leader for Learning Support who is the line Manager for this post.

Main Duties will include:

Supervising and supporting children and young people and ensuring their safety


Being aware of and complying with safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures


Preparing the classroom as directed by the teacher


Supporting children and young people to be able to access all areas of the curriculum as directed by teacher/SENCO


Supporting the learning and development of children


Working as a member of a team


Completing any necessary paperwork e.g. child progress files, accident forms etc.


Attending any necessary training courses or staff meetings
