Job Description

The Apprentice Chef will be working in a modern, casual dining bar & restaurant.

We have a small team of 4 trained Chefs so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in all levels of food preparation and cooking and have a varied role.

We always use fresh produce from our local suppliers to create modern dishes with influences from all over the world.

The successful applicant will therefore have the opportunity to learn how to cook world foods from scratch from Moroccan Tagine & Tapas to British and European dishes such as fish and chips and steaks. 

Main Duties:

To assist the Chefs in every aspect of the kitchen including cooking, cleaning, paperwork etc. 

To  attend college and gain a recognised qualification

To assist in the daily preparation of all ingredients and dishes

To make simple dishes and move to a small section when fully trained
 
To plate up simple dishes

To assist Senior Chefs on busy sections

Daily cleaning duties

Complete paperwork as required by the company

Follow all legislation and company policies and procedures
 


Qualifications

Maths and English GCSE A*-C or equivalent qualifications preferred but must have the ability to undertake an initial assessment at the college.

Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship

Intermediate Apprenticeship – Level 2 Professional Cookery                      

Proposed Duration

Minimum of 12 months, maximum of 15 months

Training to be Provided

All aspects of NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery or Level 2 Food Production and Cooking.

Will be trained in the workplace and assessed either totally in the workplace or one day release at college.
