This course is for anyone with an interest in the subject who wishes to then have the option to move onto our CISCO CCNA course.
How will the course be delivered?
Student will be expected to attend college 12 times over 16 weeks. Study would be via the online materials with online exams for each of the modules to assess understanding, whilst not in College.
- What will I study?
You will learn how to install and configure computer operating systems and PC hardware. A final exam is issued by CISCO, where you will be awarded an IT Essentials certificate. There is the option of taking the CompTIA A+ exams, which is an internationally recognised Technicians Certificate, which is external to the College and not part of the course.
There are 16 modules covering hardware and software skills and knowledge. The course also requires practical skills and is assessed at the end of the course. You will be assessed by online theory exams for each module and 2 final exams. Students would be expected to attend college 12 times over the 16 weeks.
Study would be via the online materials with online exams for each of the modules to assess understanding, whilst not in College. When in college students will have the opportunity to work on labs using hardware and software to learn the practical skills necessary, you would be expected to use those practical skills whenever possible outside of College to perfect your skills. IT Essentials exam and practical final would be completed in College on the last date of the course.
- Entry Requirements
A good working knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems. Ideally you should have completed our PC Technicians Training course.
You will also need to be confident with maths and English.
