The Certificate in Youth Work Practice is a part time course for adults who are employed either paid or volunteers in a youth work setting or as a youth and community worker. You will demonstrate how you meet a set of National Occupational Standards and show that you have the level of knowledge, understanding and skills to complete your work effectively.
You will be on programme for 9-12 months. During this time you will be expected to attend a 2 hour weekly taught session.
Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice
- What will I study?
Each of the QCF awards is based on an amount of Credits. To achieve the Level 2 certificate in Youth Work Practice you must achieve a minimum of 23 credits, 17 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 6 credits from the optional units available. Some of the topics you will cover will be:
- Safeguarding young people in a youth work setting
- Support the provision of information and advice to young people
- Understanding youth work principles and practice
- Youth work principles, knowledge and skills in work based practice
- Entry Requirements
You must be working on a regular basis in a youth work setting, either paid or as a volunteer.
- How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by an approved assessor, who will visit you in your workplace to observe and assess your practical work. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
