CIPD Certificate in Human Resources Practice (Level 3)

Who is the course for?

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the awarding body of this certificate, have recently developed their range of HR Professional qualifications. This followed an extensive period of consultation to ensure that the course is completely up-to-date and relevant to the HR practitioner. The course is designed to give an all round grounding in the main skills and knowledge used by line managers and human resources practitioners when managing employees and dealing with the associated human resource management problems.

What will I study?

It is recognised that managing staff effectively is a key component of organisational success and thus a better informed and professional approach to managing staff is necessary. The course covers recruitment, selecting and training staff. It is also covers issues such as handling grievances and disciplinary matters, health and safety matters, HR planning, employment law and the external environment. This course is the replacement for the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice.

Modules can include: 

Developing yourself as an effective HR or L&D practitioner
Understanding organisations and the role of HR Supporting Good Practice in Managing Employment Relations
Resourcing talent
Recording, analysing and using HR information
Undertaking a learning needs analysis
Preparing and designing learning and development activities

You will be assessed by a mixture of written assignments, reports and skills activities.

There is an additional tutorial period each week and two longer study periods built into the course.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be held at the University Centre on the main campus in Blackburn.

The course will be delivered as follows:

Afternoon Session
September 2013 – June 2014
1.00pm – 4.00pm

or

Evening Session:
September 2013 – June 2014
6.00pm – 9.00pm

Course Entry Criteria

There are no formal entry requirements but you must normally be employed in a Human Resources Department or supervisory position. You will also need the support of your employer (or an equivalent) to be able to undertake the assessments, which have a work based element.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

CIPD Certificate in Human Resources Practice (Level 3).

What can I do next?

Once you have successfully completed the course you may consider undertaking the CIPD Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management (Level 5) or the CIPD in Human Resources Management set at post graduate, Masters Level 7.

How much does it cost?

The course fees are £875.00 per person.  In addition you will be required to pay direct to the CIPD a joining and annual subscription fee (approx. £200).   In addition students are advised to put aside approximately £200 per year for text books)
