Overview

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. CIPS assists individuals, organisations and the profession as a whole.

This Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply is for those who have already completed the Level 4 Foundation Diploma and now wish to progress on to further study or learn in more depth about the issues and theories surrounding Purchasing and Supply.

This level provides senior buyers and contract and supply chain managers with the expertise to improve organisational procurement and to fulfil organisational objectives. It gives you the knowledge base to reduce cost, improve quality, manage the supply chain and deal with legal issues.

What Will I Study?

This level has five units (stated below).  This course aims to build on level 4 with a view to progression into a managerial or specialist role. You’ll be provided with practical and theoretical understanding of the issues affecting business and the Purchasing and Supply chain function in both public and private sector industries.  There will be two intakes for Level 5 – September and January.  Specific modules are as follows:

  • Management in Procurement & Supply
  • Managing Risks in Supply Chains
  • Operations Management in Supply Chains
  • Improving the Competitiveness of Supply Chains
  • Category Management in Procurement & Supply

Once you have been awarded a place, you will, in due course, need to complete the CIPS Registration Membership document and this can be found at:  http://www.cips.org/membership/joinonline.  This needs to be submitted directly to CIPS with the registration fees which are also detailed (You can also register online at this link).

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered in the University Centre on the main campus in Blackburn.

Entry Requirements

You will already have completed the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply.  You also need to obtain membership with CIPS.

Progression

You can progress onto CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or may move on to a specialist role in a Purchasing and Supply related function.

You will receive a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply from CIPS.

How much does it cost?

The course fee is £2,125 per year (excluding exam fees and registration fees, which are paid directly to CIPS). (Prices subject to change).

 

 

CIPS FOUNDATION UK BURSARY: For those in the UK undergoing hardship. A £1,000 bursary awarded to UK students in the most need of aid, intended to help UK students who are struggling to fund/take CIPS qualifications due to personal hardship. The funds for this bursary will be paid on to the grantee’s CIPS account. It can be used towards any CIPS product, and can also be used to pay any venue fees the grantee faces at CIPS approved exam centres. The level 5 course runs from 1pm – 5pm  or 5pm – 9pm and is delivered on a Wednesday in the University Centre on the main campus in Blackburn.  The next available dates are:
