 | LEVEL 2 / 3 DIPLOMA IN PERFORMING MUSICIANSHIPA One or Two Year Full-Time Programme of Study
What Will I Study ? This course is equivalent to 3 'A' Levels. The focus of the course is to develop performance, instrumental and technical skill within the field of contemporary popular music. You may enter at one of 2 levels - either Stage 2 (Intermediate) or Stage 3 (Advanced).
The course is divided into 7 areas:
- Performance skills.
- Music Technology
- Composition
- Musicianship
- Music History
- Music Business
- Instrumental Skills, choosing from Guitar, Drums, Bass, Vocals or Keyboard
All learners will also have the opportunity to study for RockSchool graded examinations and Advanced learners will undertake a music related video production qualification.
How Will I Learn? Performance is at the core of the programme and learners will aim to develop performance skills through all aspects of the course. Instrumental, recording, musicianship and business skills will all be developed by a team of tutors with hands-on industry experience. Throughout the year learners will have the opportunity to take part in a number of live events at local, regional and national levels.
How Will I Be Assessed ? Through continuous assessment and musical projects apart from Rockschool graded examinations.
What Do I Need To Join The Programme ? There are no formal academic entry requirements, nor do candidates need to read music. All learners will be required to deliver a short performance on their main instrument when interviewed. This will largely determine whether they are offered a place on the Intermediate or Advanced Stage. Potential candidates will need to exhibit potential, a desire to succeed and an adequate level of instrument competence.
What Will I Gain At The End Of The Course ? STAGE 2 - One Year - Rock School Intermediate Diploma
STAGE 3 - A two year programme leading to - Rock School Advanced Diploma (BTEC equivalent to 2 or 3 'A' Levels)
