Research, Scholarly Activity & Staff Profiles

Research & Scholarly Activity2.jpgThe University Centre at Blackburn College has an active programme of student and staff research. Many of our courses, particularly at Higher Education level, have a research component, and we place importance on the teaching of good research practice. Many University Centre staff are engaged in research projects, and have had research published in books and journals on a range of topics.

Our staff also attend conferences, join networks and professional bodies, take part in training and undertake other activities that help the College to be up-to-date on subject areas and developments in teaching and learning.

We hold events that profile research and scholarly activity carried out by University Centre at Blackburn College staff and students. These include: end of year Art & Design Exhibitions, our Annual Psychology exhibition, Debating Matters events, trips to attend conferences and exhibitions, for example.

Research ethics

The College has a research ethics policy, procedure and committee, and aims to ensure that students who do research gain a sound understanding of the importance of ethics.
