Blackburn College instilled in me the confidence to realise my ambitions

My 3 years at Blackburn College were extremely enjoyable and played a significant role in shaping my future career.

I have very fond memories of studying A-Levels at the College, which offered a warm and homelike environment to study and develop in. The tutors and staff at the College were always attentive and encouraged me to work harder in achieving my goals in life.

Having completed my studies at Blackburn College, I was fortunate enough to join Lancashire Constabulary as a Police Officer at the age of 20. I worked as a Uniform Response Officer, then progressed to Detective within CID and the Public Protection Unit.  I’ve since specialised in investigating domestic violence and child sexual exploitation, supporting the most vulnerable adult and child victims.

In my free time, I volunteer for Abu Hanifah Foundation in Blackburn; a children's charity offering a number of community services including football, sports and scouting for over 400 boys and girls.  I feel great joy in seeing children having fun and developing new skills.

I was fortunate to be awarded an MBE in the 2017 Queen’s New Year’s Honours list for my services to Policing and the communities in East Lancashire.

Blackburn College instilled in me the confidence to realise my ambitions and to work hard to achieve my goals, for which I'm extremely appreciative and grateful.
