We strongly believe in treating you as an individual and think that a 'one size fits all' approach to care does not take into account all of the things that makes you unique.
Phil gained his BSc (Hons) degree from Liverpool University in 2002. He has subsequently completed a large spectrum of post-graduate courses in biomechanics, exercise rehab, injection therapy and a Masters degree in Manual Therapy.
Phil specialises in Musculoskeletal injuries and has worked in the NHS at the highest clinical level, as well as private clinics and semi-pro Rugby Union teams. During this time he has treated sportsmen and women in a number of disciplines such as rowing, swimming, track cycling and visually impaired football at the national level.
Matt graduated in Physiotherapy from Salford University in 2003 following a degree in Sports Science. He has worked in the NHS since then progressing to the highest clinical position in the local NHS Trust. He has completed extensive post-graduate training in his speciality of Musculoskeletal injury and prevention and has completed his Masters Degree in Advanced Musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment.
Matt has over 10 years experience of private practice Physiotherapy and has treated national level swimmers, sailors and track and field athletes.
The Performance Lab is located on the second floor of the new £13.5 million Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre. With access to the latest gym equipment and sports facilities, there is no Physiotherapy team with better resources to help get you better.

We assess the whole body looking for faults in the way that the body works which reduces it's efficiency and increases the risk of injury. These faults include tight muscles, restricted joints, weakness of particular muscles or poor coordination and balance. Once we have found these faults we will produce a personalised exercise program to target and correct these faults.
Appointment Time: 1 hour
- Physiotherapy Assessment
A full assessment of the injured or painful body part. You will receive a diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and exercises programmes to resolve this problem.
Appointment Time: 45 mins
- Follow up Appointments
Following a MOT or initial assessment, follow up appointments are used to track progress, adapt and change the exercise program and provide hands on manual therapy.
Appointment Time: 30 mins
- Sports Massage
A full body massage aimed to increase blood flow to muscles and reduce tension or muscle spasm. Ideal for recovery after a hard event or training session or a maintenance program for people prone to muscle tightness and injury.
