Learning Through Technology
Here at Blackburn College we passionately believe in preparing learners for their future careers. We strive to arm our learners and staff with an array of transferable skills to promote lifelong learning.
With the ever increasing and rapid evolution of technological advancements, innovations and ultimately new challenges, a focus on lifelong learning is becoming ever more critical.
To support our staff and learners in this transition, a blended learning strategy has been developed in-house. It is a visual learning model that places the learner at the centre of all the College does and is called The Learning Wheel
The aim of the model is to provide a range of engagement techniques via traditional face-to-face delivery, paper-based delivery and technology enhanced delivery.
A bank of 250 iPads, and other eResources such as: Visualisers, Voting systems, ActivTable, MakeyMakey, Go-Pro cameras and Flip cameras are now available for all teaching staff to access for lessons… changing any classroom into an interactive and engaging learning environment.
A recent addition to the Blended Learning team resources is the Innovation Lab. This mainly Staff-orientated environment offers nine flexible learning environments in one open plan space. Each of the nine learning zones has a purpose and includes an appropriate piece of technology.
