• Studied: GCSE Maths (Grade 6), GCSE English Language (Grade 4)
My tutors at Blackburn College have supported me to catch up the time I missed at School

Alia joined Blackburn College in September 2018 after studying at Pleckgate High School. Alia wasn’t able to complete her GCSEs at School as was very ill during the examination period. Alia therefore came to Blackburn College with no qualifications at all.

After a year of study, Alia has now gained a grade 4 (equivalent to a GCSE pass at grade C) in English Language and a Grade 6 (equivalent to a grade above a B on the old GCSE system)  in Maths as well as obtaining an Early Years qualification.

“I missed taking my GCSE Examinations because I was unwell at School so have been able to take them at Blackburn College whilst I have also been studying Early Years. I’m going to study a Level 3 Early Years qualification next year. This will take me two years and mean that I will then be able to apply to go to University.

I would like to study Psychology and maybe even specialise in Child Psychology in the future. My tutors at Blackburn College have supported me to catch up the time I missed at School and now I am able to join a Level 3 programme which is equivalent to A-Levels. I have done this in a year and I am really pleased.

I’m looking forward to returning in September.”
