Brief Overview

To create outstanding organisations that promote education excellence, character development and service to communities. To gain experience and business support skills that allow the post holder to provide support to the Governance Team of Star Academies in a professional manner which meets with legal requirements.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1 Relationships and Communication

1.1 Booking rooms, equipment and refreshments for meetings.

1.2 Sending calendar invites to meeting attendees.

1.3 Liaising with other members of the team to provide administrative support.

2 Administration

2.1 Support the organisation and administration of the Trust’s Governance meetings.

2.2 Support the production of meeting papers, including editing and presenting documents.

2.3 Support the distribution of meeting papers by electronic and hard copy as required.

2.4 Support minute taking at meetings to ensure meetings are recorded in a timely and accurate fashion and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.

2.5 Support the maintenance of databases that support the management of the teams work.

3 Other responsibilities

3.1 Promote the Trust’s vision of ‘nurturing today’s young people, inspiring tomorrow’s leaders’.

3.2 Champion the Trust’s values of ‘Service’, ‘Teamwork’, ‘Ambition’ and ‘Respect’.

3.3 Contribute to the wider life of the Trust and the Star community.

3.4 Carry out any such duties as may be reasonably required by the Trust.

4 Records management

4.1 All staff who create, receive, and use records in the course of their job are responsible for ensuring that records are managed appropriately. It is therefore likely that this post-holder will have responsibility for record-keeping as part of the role. Employees are required to be conversant with the Trust’s policies and procedures on records management.

This appointment is with the Trust. The job description forms part of the contract of employment of the person appointed to this post. It reflects the position at the present time only and may be reviewed in negotiation with the employee in the future. The appointment is subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the ‘Star Contract’.

 

Person Specification

Desirable Skills

Essential

Ability to use MS Office software packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as Explorer and databases.

Ability to prioritise, work efficiently and accurately, particularly under pressure and to deadlines.

Ability to work in a professional manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable

Use of specialist equipment/resources such as photocopiers, laminators etc.

Experience of providing customer service.

Experience of working in an administrative setting.

5 GCSE’s (incl. Maths and English Grade C or above).
