To assist in the carrying out of electrical or mechanical work, repairs and installation work in accordance with appropriate IEE or Mechanical statutory Regulations, and in accordance with appropriate developmental stage of formal apprenticeship. To remain compliant at all times with local and external (client site) Health & Safety regulations. To undertake a programme of staged learning and development with Technical College(s) that supports both academic and vocational learning and future skills. The employee may be required to undertake differing or additional tasks to those detailed within this job description, on the proviso that they are within the reasonable skills, experience and knowledge of the employee.
Tasks And Responsibilities As Electrical Apprentice:
Achieve an understanding of the required principles and the regulations governing electrical, CCTV, alarm and fire installation and activities.
If required, attends diligently and attentively at college in order to acquire sound platform of discipline specific knowledge and experience. Duplicates this within the workplace by extracting maximum knowledge from mentor and colleagues.
Utilises workplace check and balance system with mentor and colleagues in order to consolidate learning and achieve optimum right-first-time outcomes to work tasks.
Maximises opportunities for wider development of key skills and knowledge. Seeks to attend on client sites and/or volunteers for additional learning opportunities and projects.
To broaden learning with understanding of relevant Health & Safety requirements and legislation.
Observe and comply with all local health and safety requirements. Attend tool-box talks diligently in order to maintain awareness of health and safety related changes.
Ensure to wear appropriate PPE controls when undertaking tasks and be aware of factory/site specific conditions, i.e. permits to work, hot work, confined space etc.
Stay aware of changing site conditions and practices by reading issued HSE committee meeting minutes.
Skills & Equipment Development
No personal usage of electrical or mechanical equipment prior to correct learning, supervision and monitored usage.
All equipment used following monitoring period to be used and operated within manufacturers and the Company’s operating instructions and appropriate PPE and local controls (guarding, push rods etc).
Same controls to be applied to any activities undertaken at college.
Ensure to understand correct equipment for any task undertaken.
College Learning and Portfolio’s (If Required)
Attends college classes with same level of attendance performance as expected with company attendance.
Treats academic course of study with same degree of commitment as task orientated skills development.
Acts as company ambassador whilst attending college and maintains Company reputation.
Completes college assignments on time and to best ability.
Remain flexible to the needs of the business
Undertakes reasonable ad-hoc or routine duties as directed by line manager.
- Person Specification
Previous knowledge of electrical and ICT systems would be an advantage.
Ability to problem solve and improve upon proven existing technical skills.
Can pay close attention to detail
Able to learn and assimilate quickly

Can work in a team and use your own initiative
3 GCSE’s or equivalent qualifications, grade C+, this is to include Maths and English and Science. Preferred but not essential as the right candidate must have the right mind set to learn the required skills.

Before taking their end-point assessment, apprentices must achieve level 2 English and Maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C).
