Brief overview of the role

This is a well-established very busy salon. The team have a high standard of professionalism and customer service and are looking to recruit a hairdressing apprentice to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to display a high of professionalism. You must possess good communication skills as dealing with the public is paramount. The suitable candidate must show passion for the industry.

 

A professional approach to this industry is paramount as interaction with the general public is on-going. The suitable candidate must show passion for the industry, general duties will include:

Meeting and greeting clients,

Assisting stylist,

Operating Reception.

 

Vacancy description

The job role will include:

Meeting and greeting clients

Making and serving drinks

Reception duties and cleaning duties

The stylist will expect you to work closely alongside her, observing and assisting with colouring, shampooing and blow-drying.

Training will be given on a weekly basis in the work place; this may follow the college programme. Monthly or weekly meetings/appraisals may be given.

 

The training the college will provide on a weekly basis and will comprise of:

Style and finish hair (blow drying)

Set and dress hair

Cut hair using basic techniques

Colour and lighten hair

Advise and consult with clients

Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

Perm and neutralise hair

Person Specification

Skills

The employer would prefer some basic skills in shampooing and blow-drying, however self-motivation and a willingness to learn are essential

Qualifications 

Maths and English at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualifications preferred however functional skills can be gained in college if these cannot be produced.
