We are situated in a prime location in Chorley town centre behind the train station, with easy access to the M6 and M61.
An apprentice is required to join a busy automotive service and repair centre. Dealing with the repair and maintenance of light motor vehicles, candidates will have a keen interest and passion to progress within the industry.
The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Working alongside qualified technicians with the investigation, repair and service of vehicles
Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the Autocentres business processes (e.g. environmental awareness, servicing a vehicle, record keeping, customer contact, documentation completed, quality) and standard workshop operations
Assisting with MOT's on vehicles
Use diagnostic, mechanical and electrical measuring equipment
Inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer e.g. following a service, complex repair, quality control etc.
Service and maintain a vehicle
Remove repair/replace components in line with manufacturer’s standards
Investigate symptoms of vehicle fault(s) and identify the likely underlying causes
Apply advanced diagnostic principles and logical problem-solving techniques, supported by diagnostic tools and testing regimes, to establish electrical, mechanical and electronic faults
Other general technical duties and general housekeeping
Good customer service skills/ability to liaise at all levels

Full training will be provided but some prior knowledge within maintenance and repair is desirable
Those who enjoy the practical application of knowledge and skills are especially likely to have an aptitude for the work
Interested in the way vehicles operate and the potential to research, analyse and solve problems; organised, methodical and pays attention to detail
Able to work in a team and to communicate well both orally and in writing; cares about delivering excellent service – both internally and externally to colleagues and customers
Able to demonstrate general analytical and mechanical skills
Flexibility and willingness to learn
You will be customer focused with sharp attention to detail as well as the ability to listen to and learn from you college lecturers and colleagues/mentors to gain the skills to diagnose and repair vehicles to the highest standard
English and maths GCSE A-C grade or equivalents
Candidates without English and maths at GCSE Grade C (or Functional Skills Level 2) or above will undertake level 1 Functional skills
Things to Consider
The apprentice will work Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
