Ewood Medical Centre and Larkhill Surgery is based on Bolton Road in Blackburn. We are very proud of the service we provide and hope we are able to fully support the health needs of all patients. To provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals and others. To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis. To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the partners and patients.
Duties will include;
Answering the telephone and providing a front of house reception service
Greeting patients and directing them appropriately
Booking appointments, retrieving clinical records
Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions and dealing with mail
Filing and maintaining internal documents
Dealing with confidential patient records
Maintain the practice's computer and paper-based medical records as well as communicating with hospitals and other healthcare providers
General administrative duties such as filing and faxing and other duties relevant to the role as and when required
Deal with general enquiries and minor complaints
Any other duties as requested by the Practice Manager

Excellent communication skills
Good IT skills

Maintaining patient and data confidentiality
Warm and friendly
Methodical and ability to work to a structure
Willing to commit to the amount of study included in the qualification
Maths and English GCSE A-C / 4-9 would be preferred or equivalent qualifications
Things to consider
This role will start with immediate effect - the apprentice will initially complete 24 hours per week at £5 an hour, in March 2019 the hours will increase to 35 hours per week. The apprentice will be signed up onto the course in March 2019.
