Shining Stars Nursery was originally established in 2008 and has since grown out of dream and has established branches in Bolton, Blackburn and Preston providing excellent child care and education for 0-5 years olds for 51 weeks of the year. Children have access to a range of nursery toys and resources, art and craft, dressing-up, I.C.T. equipment and much more. Shining Stars Nursery also provides outdoor activities along with swimming lessons and exciting annual trips, giving the opportunity to our children to support and extend their development.
The apprentice will look after young children, providing a safe environment for the children to play, whilst supporting their learning and development.
The apprentice will be undertaking the following duties:
- All duties and care routines of the children
- Conducting assessments
- Tracking children's learning and development
- Completing learning journeys
- Cleaning routines (as part of a rota)
- The apprentice will be required to be flexible to work between the hours of 8am-6pm and be available to work out of regular working hours. (E.G. weekends for nursery events and also attend training sessions)
This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision with children and young people from birth to 5 years of age. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s settings including early years and social care.
Job role will include assisting with the daily routine of the nursery, meeting and greeting parents and children, snack and mealtimes (preparing and assisting feeding with babies), engaging with children during free-play and focused activities indoor and outdoor, nappies and changing, helping to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment for children being aware of safety and risks at all times.
Dealing with behavioural issues, working alongside qualified staff to understand the EYFS curriculum and be aware of the keyworker system, observations and planning to monitor areas of development. Attend staff meetings, parents evening, training courses such as first aid, safeguarding, food hygiene if required.

English and Maths GCSE A-C/9-4 preferred
Things to consider
May have to attend work on weekends for nursery events, such as open days.
