Job Description

An exciting position has become available for a Transport Planner Administrator to join a fast expanding business based in Blackburn.

We are a major supplier of hygiene paper products in the UK and Ireland. We have a very strong reputation in the industry for providing exceptional customer service and value for money, whilst adhering to the highest ethical and environmental standards.  Recently we were nominated as the Top 1000 companies to Inspire Britain and Europe.

Due to continued expansion we have a full time role for a transport planner administrator planning customer deliveries across the UK using our own transport and haulage companies. This role will be responsible for assigning and planning UK delivery routes to ensure we are delivering “exceptional service”, whilst ensuring we are driving cost efficiencies across the total primary and secondary distribution networks

Duties will include:

Working closely with Production, Sales and Transport teams to ensure an efficient service to our customers

Operating administrative systems - keeping computer system records up to date

Arranging transportation of all products to required destinations

The efficient planning of a varied fleet of vehicles to ensure maximum profitability

Accurately process jobs within transport management software

Ensuring all correct information is processed for daily deliveries

General administrative duties – filing, scanning, printing, binding etc

Compliance with company procedures – environmental policies and Health & Safety

Assisting drivers with job information and trouble shoot problems.


Person Specification

Desirable Skills

Possess the skills to prioritise your work load in a fast paced environment

A strong working knowledge of Office based IT including Outlook, Word and Excel

Excellent customer service skills

Strong written, numerical and verbal communication skills

Background in warehouse, transportation, and logistics will be advantageous but not essential

Experience on SAP will be advantageous but not essential

Personal Qualities

Good attention to detail

Committed and hardworking

Desired Qualifications

Maths and English GCSE grade A-C/9-4 is desirable

The successful candidate will ideally have approximately 1 years experience in a similar working environment
