St. James' Primary School offers high quality education for children between the ages of two and eleven in a stimulating, challenging, happy and safe environment. The Early Years Centre extends the current provision to include Free Early Education for two, three and four year old children. St James' Primary School enjoys a very good reputation in Blackburn and demand for places is high.
Supporting class teachers with the teaching and learning of the EYFS curriculum and pupil wellbeing.
Vacancy for Early Years apprentice Level 2 – to be able to work with children in our Nursery (aged 2 – 4 years) and our Reception class (4 – 5 years ) at school.
The role will include;
Working under the direction of the class teacher to carry out a range of classroom duties.
Supporting the learning of pupils of different ages with a range of abilities.
Communicating effectively with pupils to support them in their learning.
Helping to prepare classroom resources.
Communicating effectively with staff and being able to work as part of a team.
Remaining professional, in order to be a role model for pupils.
Willingness to become involved in the wider life of school, such as supporting staff with clubs, school competitions, school events etc.
Attend inset days and other relevant staff training.
Keeping pupils safe and responsibility for their wellbeing.

Subject to Blackburn College initial assessment results or GCSE’s (or equivalent) C in Maths and English
Things to consider
Will be required to change nappies if working with the children in Nursery.
May, at times, be required to clean up after a child has been unwell.
May need to administer some medical care (under supervision) i.e. applying cream to a child.
Successful candidates will be entitled to school holidays although these will be unpaid.
