Learn everything you need to know about cake decorating from design to delivery. Packed with written, illustrated, and tutor instruction, the Modern Cake Making Course will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of creating a delicious tiered, fully-decorated cake and provide you with amazing hints, tips and tricks throughout the class.

What will I study?

The course begins with a look at the essential tools and equipment you’ll be using, the process of making a cake, and how to prepare yourself, your workspace and your ingredients.

You’ll be guided through baking a delicious 6-inch tiered vanilla sponge cake. Additionally, you’ll learn how to adjust ingredients for varying tastes and cake tin sizes.

You’ll discover how to level, torte, and fill your sponge with delicious jam fillings and cover in a buttercream coating and sprinkles.

Finally, you’ll be shown how to combine your decorations and finish your cake.

By studying this short 2 day course, you will:

  • Receive step-by-step guidance
  • Learn how to bake, decorate and assemble a cake
  • Fully understand the tools, techniques, and ingredients used to create beautiful cakes at home

Day 1: Learn about tools and equipment needed and how to make the cake and the buttercream

Day 2: Learn how to assemble a tiered cake and decorate with the buttercream and sprinkles. You will be able to take your cake home with you after the second day.

Entry Requirements

This is not for beginners, you must have experience of baking cakes.

You'll gain the knowledge and techniques to create a modern cake in your own home and recipes and tips.
