This is the ideal course if you’re just starting your career in procurement or if procurement is part of your role. It will enable you to recognise and describe the key processes in procurement and build your professional knowledge and competence. You don’t need any prior experience or qualifications to start your studies at this stage.
This course should be seen as the pre-cursor to CIPS Levels 3 and/or 4. There are no entry requirements for this level however an interest in procurement and supply would be an advantage.
- What will I study?
This new Level 2 Introductory Certificate has been designed to aid anyone who would like to develop and improve their skills in the workplace. This certificate benefits not only the individual but also the company; it could mean cost savings and quality improvements in the workplace. The course is primarily aimed at students who wish to start on the procurement and supply career ladder or those who have just started and want to improve their knowledge.
The course covers a number of different elements including the role and scope of purchasing, systems and procedures in purchasing, working with suppliers and some legal aspects of procurement, especially contracting. The course will conclude with a short online multi-choice assessment, lasting about 1 hour.

There are no entry requirements for this level however an interest in procurement and supply would be an advantage.
- How will I be assessed?
Students will receive Blackburn College certificate based on attendance at the 2 day event
- What can I do next?
