More customers are seeking out suppliers who have attained an Internationally recognised accreditation (ISO9001:2015) to a Quality Management System. Recent changes to the standard required either the achievement to ISO9001 or improvement and consolidation of documents and processes within the business. The College are offering a one-day masterclass which will explore the fundamentals of Quality Management and how to apply these in a business environment, using practical tools, techniques and models.
By completing this masterclass, delegates will have an awareness of all the main elements of a business Quality Management System. The following stage/workshop will use these elements and illustrate how they are applied to a business.
- What will I study?
- To provide a pragmatic overview of a business quality management system.
- To demonstrate the tools and techniques used to populate the quality management system.
- To understand the “process approach” used and how to look for continual improvement within the system.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The session will be delivered by a professional engineer who has held the position of Quality Director in 3 major aerospace companies and has travelled the globe “opening up” supply chain sub-contractors to achieve world class status. He has also published a practical guide to achieving this standard – a publication to be used in delivering this detailed learning workshop.
About the tutor:
David Hewitt served his time in the military and commercial aerospace industry and spent 37 years in manufacturing, assembly and Quality Assurance. He achieved HND qualification and a Cranfield Fellowship in Engineering. David held the position of Quality Director in the early 1990’s in Manchester, UK and during this time he travelled the world on behalf of his employer to review, audit and recommend changes to supplier’s quality systems before work was formerly released to them for manufacture. All Aerospace suppliers had to be approved to a defined set of standards rooted firmly in the requirements of AS9100/ISO 9001.
David left mainstream Aerospace in 2001 to set up Aragon Consulting Services Limited. Since then, Aragon Consulting has serviced (and continues to do so) the Quality Management Systems and training needs of many customers throughout the north of England and in Europe, working with Airbus in Toulouse and Universal Alloy Corporation Europe in Romania as Director of Quality.
Every attendee will also receive a copy of David’s book:
