About the Trainer: Angelo Kornecki APFS, Chartered Financial Planner. P.G.C.E.:
Angelo is a passionate advocate for higher level education within the Financial Services Profession and has extensive experience within the Financial Services Industry, having worked in Retail Banking and Financial Planning for a large global bank, as an Independent Financial Adviser with clients throughout the North West and is currently the Founder and Director of AKORN Financial Advice Ltd, a fast growing, forward thinking Financial Advice firm based in Blackburn.
Angelo holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning from the CII and holds Chartered Financial Planner status, one of the industry’s highest accreditations, proving and supporting the highest levels of technical knowledge and professional ethics. In addition to being a practising Financial Adviser, Angelo is also a lecturer on the FdA Accounting with Financial Services and BA (Top up) Accounting with Financial Services degree courses at the University Centre at Blackburn College, heading up and delivering the Financial Services Pathway on both courses. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E) from the University Of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
- What will I study?
Personal Taxation – R03
- Basic structure of the UK tax system;
- Main taxes on income and capital that may be charged on individuals and trusts, the self-assessment system and how tax liabilities are computed;
- Taxation of investments as relevant to the needs and circumstances of individuals and trusts.
PLEASE NOTE: The College are providing a total of 15 hours guided learning/support hours per unit with the remaining CII recommended learning hours to come from the students own self-study. The total CII recommended study hours (which will obviously vary based on experience and ability) are as follows:

- Entry Requirements
Student membership of the CII is mandatory. This is free and can be done online with the CII.
- How will I be assessed?
1 hour, 50 question multiple choice exam
Module cost includes includes study text, access to the CII’s RevisionMate, exam guide and exam entry for each module (first sitting). Please note that examinations are taken at a test centre external to Blackburn College.
Diploma units are assessed by multiple-choice question exam (MCQ) (R03). For online MCQ exams, result notification is immediate on completion. For paper-based MCQ exams, results are released five weeks’ following the exam sitting. Written exam results are normally released 6-8 weeks following the exam sitting.
