Angelo Kornecki

Angelo is a passionate advocate for higher level education within the Financial Services Profession and has extensive experience within the Financial Services Industry, having worked in Retail Banking and Financial Planning for a large global bank, as an Independent Financial Adviser with clients throughout the North West and is currently the Founder and Director of AKORN Financial Advice Ltd, a fast growing, forward thinking Financial Advice firm based in Blackburn. 

Angelo holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning from the CII and holds Chartered Financial Planner status, one of the industry’s highest accreditations, proving and supporting the highest levels of technical knowledge and professional ethics. In addition to being a practising Financial Adviser, Angelo is the Technical Director at Redmill Advance, a professional development and learning business providing technical writing and education for their students globally. He is also a lecturer on the FdA Accounting with Financial Services and BA (Top up) Accounting with Financial Services degree courses at the University Centre at Blackburn College, heading up and delivering the Financial Services Pathway on both courses. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E) from the University Of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).

Daniel Armitage

Daniel has a passion to help others fulfil their very best potential within the Financial Services Industry. Working within a range of financial services firms since he was 19, he has a keen experienced eye for detail and helping clients with their hopes, dreams and aspirations. He started his career at a  well-known high street retail bank and worked his way to financial planning manager. Since then, Daniel has held roles such as Head of Learning, development and competence and Head of Financial Planning in various IFA firms including working with Redmill Advance, a professional development and learning provider as Technical specialist and trainer delivering study support for global firms and their academy programs.  

As a diploma qualified financial planning professional, Daniel is working towards chartered status. He is set apart from other financial advisers as he is also a master NLP practitioner which he uses to support staff, delegates and clients. He holds himself to the highest of professional standards and ethics as he says “putting the client at the heart of everything we do is a must, as high quality financial advice is the lifeblood of our industry”.

What will I study?

Financial Planning Practice – R06

This unit enables candidates to demonstrate their expertise in the application of the financial planning process through combining and applying learning content from all the other units in the CII QCF level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning:

  • Financial services, regulation and ethics;
  • Investment principles and risk;
  • Personal taxation;
  • Pensions and retirement planning;
  • Financial protection.


Course Reading (Outside of the classroom):

Students are expected to undertake at least 3 – 5 hours of reading per week and make use of RevisionMate and CII Resources on top of class attendance.  Your tutor will direct as to required reading topics.  You will have the opportunity to ask questions at the next session.  Preparation for each session is essential.


PLEASE NOTE:  The College are providing a total of 2 days guided learning/support hours per unit with the remaining CII recommended learning hours to come from the students own self-study online on our portal.

Entry Requirements

Student membership of the CII is mandatory. This is free and can be done online with the CII.

How will I be assessed?

R06      -           3-hour exam comprising 2 written case studies on financial planning practice (pre-seen)



Diploma units are assessed by multiple-choice question exam (MCQ) (R01, R02, R03, R04, and R05) and a written case study based exam (R06).   For online MCQ exams, result notification is immediate on completion.  For paper-based MCQ exams, results are released five weeks’ following the exam sitting.  Written exam results are normally released 6-8 weeks following the exam sitting.
