The 17th Edition (with the First Amendment update) training course is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience, domestic electrical installers and other allied professionals e.g. electrical engineers, contracts managers, designers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations. This course is aimed at all delegates including those with the 16th edition to stay up to date with the amendment 3 regulations enforced from July 2015. If you have the 16th Edition you will still need to do this 3 day course to stay up to date with the new Amendment 1 standards released in September 2011.
How will the course be delivered?
Through classroom based activities alongside a tutor and other delegates at a similar level. The course runs to demand on various dates throughout the year. Candidates need to bring with them a copy of:
- IET Guide BS7671-2008 (2015) IET Wiring Regulations 17th Edition Incorporating Amendment No3 (yellow book) ISBN 978-1-84919-769-4
- What will I study?
The course will include the following; Scope Object and fundamental principles Definitions Assessment of general characteristics Protection for safety Selection and erection of equipment Inspection and testing Special installations or locations The new first amendment standards.
- Entry Requirements
Although there are no formal qualifications we strongly recommend that candidates have a prior basic knowledge of electrical science along with basic understanding of electrical installation circuits, to ensure full potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. Familiarity with the current wiring regulations would be an advantage.
