This 1 year Computing, IT and Business Software Skills Entry Level programme will introduce you to the basics of IT and Business.
Suitable for students who have left school without any qualifications, this course is perfect for you if you have a passion for anything digital. Taught in small class sizes, you will improve your functional skills in English and Maths, problem solving, creative thinking and learning to work independently.
On completion, you will have the knowledge, understanding and skills that employers and colleges expect from you. You will also enhance your career opportunities and have the chance to progress onto further IT and Business courses at Blackburn College.
- What will I study?
On this study programme, you will work towards two separate qualifications which consist of Entry and Level 1 units ready for progression to a Level 1 diploma the following academic year.

There are no formal entry qualifications for this Study Programme although you should have an interest in using computers and show that you can benefit from the course.
- How will I be assessed?
There are no exams on this study programme and the course tutors will assess your practical work. At the end of the year, your overall portfolio of work will be assessed by an external verifier to confirm your success.
- What can I do next?
After successful completion of the Study Programme, your tutors will be in a position to recommend progression onto a higher level Computing, Business or Vocational pathway. These streams can offer you the opportunity to study up to a Level 3 qualification.
Progression will depend on the level of flare and creativity that you have shown throughout the course; in understanding and using specialist software; literacy skills and your ability to understand written instructions and produce written reports with minimal help.
Guidance interviews will take place at the end of your course and you will be fully supported throughout the process.
