Overview

Sport and Activity Leadership is an exciting and rapidly developing sector of the UK economy, seeing expansion in terms of job opportunities, every year. This qualification has been developed in consultation with employers within the local sport sector to ensure you develop the skills and qualities that will give you the best opportunity to be successful when applying for work or progressing to further study.

This varied course will provide you with an insight into sports leadership including the planning, delivery and reviewing of sports sessions. You will benefit from a wealth of activities ranging from taking part in sport and activity sessions delivered by guest sports leaders, to offsite visits to external employers and leadership settings.

You will benefit from our excellent campus facilities including 2x sports halls, a 25m 6 lane swimming pool, a spacious 80 station fitness suite, a dance and aerobics studio, a spinning studio and a performance laboratory. As part of your study programme you will use these facilities to develop your skills.

Most of the content of the qualification is mandatory and relates directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers in the leisure sector.

  • Developing Skills for Sport and Activity Leadership
  • Delivering a Sports Activity Event

The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and you should have basic skills in communication in line with a Level 2 course.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 3/D, including Math and English, completion of a suitable Level 1 qualification and a successful interview.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through various assignments and two external examinations.

What can I do next?

Once you have completed your Level 2 course, you will be able to apply for a Level 3 qualification or enter employment within the sector.
