Recent Research Projects

Currently I am engaging with action research centred around implementing a peer mentoring programme in a higher education institution. In recent years I have conducted research around student experience and its most significant elements – gathered from the perspective of students.

Teaching and Professional Activities

In my lecturing role at Blackburn University Centre I currently lecture across three degrees: Coaching and Mentoring, Education, and Positive Practice: Working with Children and young people. Teaching across all degree levels I lead on modules such as Interpersonal Skills, Foundations in Education, Learning Theories, Work Based Learning, Research, Dissertation, Mental Health and Working with Abuse. In addition to my teaching role I have additionally had a range of opportunities in leading more pastoral support and academic development and enhancement opportunities focused on assisting students in preparing for and succeeding in academic study. I am very enthusiastic about each of these roles and relish the opportunities to help students in these ways.

As a private tutor and academic coach I support students to develop within the areas of primary level English and Maths. This is a very rewarding role through which I am lucky to aid students progress within these areas and enhance their skill set. I also use coaching skills to support students in developing in other areas such as confidence, resilience, and problem solving.
