Mark Knight - FdA Coaching and Mentoring

  • Studied: FdA Coaching and Mentoring

"I initially studied GCSE Maths and English at Blackburn College, before progressing onto the Access to Higher Education Diploma: Healthcare (Mental Health). I then progressed to the University Centre at Blackburn College to study Foundation Degree in Coaching and Mentoring (FdA).

"I have enjoyed the whole course and all the tutors have been fantastic and supportive with endless amounts of advice regarding assignments and coursework, while in class and even when I needed help outside lesson times.

"I enjoyed the research element of the FdA Coaching and Mentoring Degree especially the practical side where I carried out interviews for my project. I also enjoyed my placement and this gave me value experience and can only increase my chances of employment.

"I chose the University Centre at Blackburn College because of its location and the facilities are great. It has been a very good place for me to study and the University Centre at Blackburn College met and exceeded any expectations that I had, especially in regard to the excellent support from my tutors. I met some lovely people and have made lifelong friends.

"I have now progressed onto the BA (Hons) Coaching and Mentoring (Top Up Year) and then hope to study for a PGCE (Education and Training) with a view to becoming a lecturer. When I finish, the world is my oyster - having a Degree opens so many doors.

"I would highly recommend the FdA Coaching and Mentoring Degree programme to anyone who has an interest in pursuing a career within supporting and helping others. The FdA Coaching and Mentoring Degree has not only given me excellent subject knowledge and taught me new skills, it has helped me as a person find myself, improved my communication and personal skills, and increased my confidence, motivation and personal growth."
