University Centre student Tylah Pierce has successfully undertaken a work placement with Kate Hollern, MP for Blackburn.

Tylah is currently enrolled on BA (Hons) Social Science and had previously completed a one-week work experience stint with the Blackburn constituency in July 2018. She said:

“After completing the previous work experience, Kate Hollern MP suggested I partake in a work placement with the constituency. Since then, I have worked at the constituency each and every Wednesday and was even able to work in Parliament for a week.”

This work placement has empowered Tylah with a number of employment-focussed skills and has enabled her to better understand the issues that constituents face and the day-to-day tasks involved with being a Member of Parliament (MP).  She added:

“When I finish my degree, I would like to work as a Community Organiser for the Labour Party. My dream career long term is to be an MP – maybe even Prime Minister.”
