Art Students Impress with New Exhibition
Artwork from a group of talented Blackburn College students is currently being exhibited at a local arts venue.
The exhibition, held at The Bureau – Centre for the Arts, showcases exciting new creative work from those enrolled on Art and Design courses at Blackburn College.
Titled ‘Inner City’, the exhibition has been wholly organised and promoted by Art and Design students studying a Level 1 or 2 University of the Arts, London (UAL) awarded qualification.
The exhibition kicked off with an exclusive pre-launch event open to students and Blackburn College staff, with artwork showcasing an impressive range of black and white, colour and multimedia pieces.
Sally Taylor, Art and Design tutor at Blackburn College said: “Inner City is a real showcase of talent from our Level 1 and Level 2 students and solidifies why Blackburn College is the number one choice for many looking to pursue a career in the creative industries.”
“Encouraging students to organise and hold an exhibition empowers them to develop the skills they will need to be successful practising artists. It is also an important part of their qualification, forming a core part of both their Communication Unit and 2D Unit.”
Student Kieran Hargreaves, 17, was delighted with the exhibition. He said: “Inner City has been a great experience to enjoy – not only for me, but for others too.”
Blackburn College has a longstanding reputation for nurturing creative talent across a range of courses and levels. The College has a Progression Partnership with University of the Arts, London (UAL) – a world top 6 university for art and design* – who serve as the awarding body for many of the College’s art and design qualifications.
‘Inner City’ is now open to the public at the Bureau – Centre for the Arts and will run until Friday 15th February 2019 from 1pm-3pm (Wednesday to Friday) and 2pm-4pm (Saturday). The Bureau – Centre for the Arts is located at St. Johns Centre, Victoria Street, Blackburn.
