College Celebrates Employer Partnerships

More than 50 guests from employers across Lancashire have gathered for National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week to celebrate their success in delivering employment opportunities in partnership with Blackburn College.

The event formed part of Blackburn College’s National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week celebrations and was attended by some of the most high-profile employers in Lancashire, including SES Engineering, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Lance Mason Solicitors.

Guests were treated to a lunch at the College’s student-run restaurant, Scholars – comprising a three-course lunch prepared by students and a ceremony honouring the partnerships between Blackburn College and its network of industry partners.

Claire Shore, Senior Business Development Manager at Blackburn College said: “Blackburn College is renowned for its brilliant industry links and we were keen to invite our key partners in to help us celebrate National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week. We also wanted to give something back as a way of expressing our gratitude for the phenomenal employment opportunities our partners continue to provide for our students.”

The event was also an outlet to celebrate the benefits of Apprenticeships to businesses and featured distinguished speakers including Joanne Pickering; Director of HR, Training & Quality at Forbes Solicitors and North West Employer Ambassador of the National Apprenticeship Service.

She said: “As Director of HR, Training & Quality at Forbes, I see on a daily basis how Apprentices and Graduate Apprentices add value both in what they bring to the firm and how they continue to develop their careers at Forbes. I encourage all employers to up skill their staff by way of Apprenticeships and, if Apprenticeship Levy payers, make sure they make the most of this by contacting Blackburn College to find out about the many Apprenticeship programmes on offer.”

Claire Shore reaffirmed Blackburn College’s position as a hub for employment-focussed education, adding: “Blackburn College’s strength in delivering employment-focussed education is testament to the strong bond we hold with local industry. 2019 looks to be another exciting year for the College where our extensive provision will continue to support the needs and desires of the local economy. Whether you’re a business or an individual, please get in touch if you want to learn how Blackburn College can benefit you.”
