College Sponsors Community Awards Evening
Volunteers and community workers were honoured at the One Voice Community Champion Awards. The awards were held as part of the One Voice Annual Dinner at the Windsor Suite, King George’s Hall.
The One Voice Annual Dinner was sponsored and supported by Blackburn College and saw some of the best work in the community celebrated with ten awards presented on the evening.
Blackburn College Principal and Chief Executive Dr Fazal Dad was in attendance to present the College-sponsored award for Young Person of the Year to Nathan Pugh.
Fazal said: “Blackburn College is proud to have supported the One Voice Annual Dinner for the fourth year in a row.
“It is clear that there is a great synergy between Blackburn College’s values and One Voice’s owns mission statement of creating an inclusive, cohesive and vibrant community in Blackburn with Darwen.”
Nathan, 10, was awarded Young Person of the Year in recognition of his contributions to the communities throughout Blackburn. An active litter picker and beach cleaner, Nathan raised £700 last year for both the Blackburn with Darwen National Autistic Society and the Northern Inuit Society.
Blackburn College has collaborated with One Voice on a number of projects since the community group launched in 2011 and the partnership between the organisations continues to go from strength to strength.
