College Raises Money for Nightsafe
Staff and students at the University Centre at Blackburn College have raised money in support of Nightsafe.
University Centre at Blackburn College managers Caroline Bracewell and Joanne Halliwell slept out at St Silas’ Parish Church Grounds to highlight the reality that young homeless and vulnerable people face every day.
Donations were made through a combination of a JustGiving page and a collection organised by the University Centre Students’ Union.
Don Lennon, HE Student Governor said: “Raising money as part of the Sleep Out event has highlighted the continued issue of homelessness and the importance of supporting those less fortunate within the community.
“The work Nightsafe do is truly exemplary and I’m proud that our student body were able to contribute to the tremendous work they continue to do each and every day.”
Jan Larkin, CEO of Nightsafe added: “We are so grateful for all the wonderful support from our friends at Blackburn College. From collections and donations to even sleeping out with us! It makes a massive difference, enabling us to do so much more to support our young people – thank you so very much”
Nightsafe is a charity supporting homeless people aged 16-24. It is a small, locally based charity in Blackburn with Darwen providing holistic services to homeless and vulnerable young people.
