Class of 2019 Graduate from the University Centre at Blackburn College
Hundreds of students from Blackburn College are celebrating the culmination of their degree programmes at Graduation ceremonies held at King George’s Hall on Wednesday 16th October 2019.
Family, friends and Blackburn College staff have gathered to celebrate the students’ successes as well as the prospect of exciting and rewarding careers within a variety of subjects and disciplines.
Over 1,700 guests are expected to see their friends and family members graduate across the two ceremonies which are being held at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
Those graduating will take part in a traditional procession, flanked with trumpeters as part of their respective ceremony.
A procession will leave the Blackburn College campus and head to King George’s Hall prior to the start of each ceremony.
The ceremonies will be attended by representatives of Blackburn College’s University partners including Lancaster University, the University of Central Lancashire, the University of South Wales and the University of Cumbria.
The College’s Governors and Leadership Team will also be in attendance along with the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Councillor James Shorrock.
Dr Fazal Dad, Principal and Chief Executive of Blackburn College said:
“As Principal and Chief Executive of Blackburn College, it is both a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to personally congratulate each of our students who have achieved a Higher Education qualification with us and share in the celebration of their success.
Lillian Croston, Chair of the Corporation Board added:
“We wish all our graduates a bright, fulfilling, engaging and happy future. Although their achievements may represent the end of their time with us at Blackburn College, I hope they are just the start of a long relationship with learning, innovation and enterprise and, of course, that they will continue to be courageous in their future lives.”
Statistics show that 93% of graduates from Blackburn College are in work or further study, just six months after Graduation.*
