Blackburn College Donates Items to Nightsafe and Blackburn Foodbank
Blackburn College students and staff have donated plenty of much needed items to Blackburn charities Nightsafe and Blackburn Foodbank.
The initiative, which is run annually by the College’s Pastoral Team, sees students and staff donate a range of items including dry food, tinned food, canned drinks, sanitary products and children’s nappies.
Since 1990, Nightsafe has supported homeless people aged 16-24 within the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen, whilst Blackburn Foodbank uses the support of The Trussell Trust to provide food parcels to people and families who are referred.
Amy Miller, Blackburn College’s Student Support and Pastoral Support Officer, said: “The collection initiative is something we run every Christmas and we are always overwhelmed by the generosity of both our students and staff – the Pastoral Team would like to say a massive thank you!”
Emma Barnard, Blackburn College’s Further Education Student Support and Pastoral Support Mentor, added: “Nobody wants there to be homelessness or people not knowing where their next meal will come from, but unfortunately these things exist and we are happy to support our local community and help out where we can – no matter how small or big the gesture is.”
