Blackburn College Estates Team Recognised for Supporting adidas Exhibition
The Estates Team at Blackburn College have been recognised for their outstanding work in supporting the adidas SPEZIAL Exhibition last October.
Former Blackburn College student and adidas brand consultant Gary Aspden gifted each member a pair of adidas SPEZIAL shoes as a thank you for their contributions to the event, which formed part of the British Textile Biennial.
Dr Fazal Dad, Principal and Chief Executive at Blackburn College said: “I would like to express my gratitude to Gary for recognising the contributions of our Estates Team in support of the adidas SPEZIAL Exhibition.”
“The Estates Team were delighted by this fantastic gesture and that their effort and hard work did not go unnoticed.”
“I would also like to extend my own thank you to our excellent Estates Team, for helping to ensure the exhibition went ahead successfully.”
Amongst the shoes gifted to the Blackburn College Estates Team were a pair of Stan Smiths and a pair of SL 72s – the latter of which were originally produced for the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
The adidas SPEZIAL exhibition formed a major part of the British Textile Biennial, with 1,200 pairs of trainers exhibited from Gary Aspden’s personal collection and borrowed from collectors around the world.
The inaugural British Textile Biennial saw Blackburn College take centre stage as a headline sponsor, with BA (Hons) Fine Art lecturer Jamie Holman exhibiting as artist-in-residence and students participating in a wide range of work placement opportunities.
The British Textile Biennial was attended by over 50,000 people and received national press coverage from BBC Breakfast, BBC North West, The Guardian, The Times and The Mirror amongst others.
Last academic year students at Blackburn College achieved amazing results and the College is currently taking applications for 16-18 years, 19+ and University courses. Direct applications can be made at www.blackburn.ac.uk
