Two Television Features in Two Months for College’s Talbot Archive

Imagery from the Blackburn College Talbot Archive Project recently featured on series three episode two of Discovery Quest programme Scrap Kings.

The episode, which transmitted at 9pm on Tuesday 24th March 2020, focused on the filming of the demolition of the old Thwaites Brewery building near Blackburn town centre.

Scrap Kings’ Production Team contacted the Talbot Archive to request some older photos of the building when it was at its most active.

These photos were released to the team on license by Talbot Archive Project Director Peter Graham; and would go on to prominently appear in the broadcast, as well as being credited in the programme’s titles.

Peter said: “I was approached a few months ago by Production Manager at back2back Productions Ltd, Kate Cloke. They make Scrap Kings and were interested in our photos that showed the Thwaites Brewery in its heyday.

“We are always happy to source photography where appropriate. The Project is gaining national recognition, which in turn promotes Blackburn College.”

Talbot Archive images also appeared on BBC’s Flog it! at the end of February, which led to the Project reuniting a local woman with a historical picture of her grandmother.

The Talbot Archive Project has a popular Facebook Group which you can join by clicking here.
