Blackburn University Centre Graduate Grabs Role at Getty Images
Director of Blackburn College’s Talbot Archive Project Peter Graham has been offered a Consultancy role with Getty Images.
Peter, who graduated from Blackburn University Centre’s BA (Hons) Photography course, had been building the relationship between the Talbot Archive Project and Getty before the job offer.
Blackburn College owns a good proportion of the Talbot Archive and, in December 2019, the 16,000-image Sport Collection was sold to Popperfoto. These images are now starting to be published on the global Getty platform and the Talbot Archive Sport Collection has its own dedicated Getty platform, which is very rare.
Peter will provide research for the Archive and will also be adding to the collection with Getty. He has also recently been recognised as an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society - their second highest award – and will be continuing to work for the College’s Talbot Archive Project.
Peter, 55 from Darwen, said: “I am delighted to be working with Getty Images! This has been made possible by completing my Degree at Blackburn University Centre.
“Having the opportunity to work with the world’s largest photographic collections is truly amazing and to receive recognition and be awarded Associate of the Royal Photographic Society is very special.
“The Talbot Archive Project is a hugely important project for the College and the local community and will hopefully result in the Blackburn Heritage Centre being set-up.”
