Students receive volunteering opportunities at the British Textile Biennial

Blackburn College Students have been given the opportunity to get involved with a major textile festival taking place this October.

Creative Arts students received a talk from Uzma Raziq, Community Liaison Manager at The Super Slow Way about opportunities on offer for them to volunteer at the 2021 Textiles Biennial.

Several arts and entertainment venues across Lancashire will be hosting exhibitions for the Textiles Biennial, and Blackburn College students were able to sign up for volunteering positions after a Q&A with Uzma.

Uzma said: “We have a range of volunteer opportunities for students as part of the British Textile Biennial. Volunteers are vital for us to be able to hold the biennial, but it is also a great opportunity for students to be able to develop a range of skills that will help them in future careers, including networking and confidence building.

“The students will have the opportunity to interact with the installations and the artists who have created them, see how they were created, as well as explaining the art to the public.”
