A Haslingden teenager is celebrating after being accepted for a place to study Criminology at Lancaster University.

Olivia Blomley, 18, was accepted onto the course after securing top grades in her A-Levels at Blackburn Sixth Form, gaining an A in Sociology, an A in Biology and C in Maths.

The former All Saints’ Roman Catholic High School pupil said: “I’m really pleased with my grades and am excited to be starting my degree soon at Lancaster University.

"I’ve had a great time studying at Blackburn Sixth Form. When I came to the Open Event, I really liked the feel of the Sixth Form and knew it was where I wanted to study. The tutors were all very friendly and helpful, and I also liked that the College has links to Lancaster University.

"The thing I’ve enjoyed most about studying at Blackburn Sixth Form is the learning environment; it’s really friendly and the tutors have given me a lot of confidence in my abilities. I’ve also really enjoyed the discussions we’ve had in class which have encouraged independent thought.

"The tutors have provided a high level of support throughout but have also pushed me just the right amount.

"I’ve really enjoyed my time studying at sixth form and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to study A-Levels."
