“I came to Blackburn College because I took part in a ‘Young Chef’ competition whilst I was still at St Christophers High School. Being able to see the facilities that Blackburn College helped me make the easy decision to study here and having been here for four years, I would definitely recommend the course and the College.”

“I really enjoyed studying at Blackburn College – everyone was really friendly and the staff were so supportive.”

“I have always loved cooking so knew from the start that I wanted to do something within Catering and Hospitality. I started with Level 1 Catering and Food Profession and Level 2 Food and Beverage Service and then progressed onto the Level 3 Professional Cookery course – the experiences I have had over all of the programmes helped re-enforce that my future lies within Catering.”

“The practical elements of the course were enjoyable and engaging and the tutors were really supportive - you could talk about other things that weren’t just related to the course and I enjoyed the banter I had with my tutor about football. Being able to speak to them made all the difference and if I had any problems, I knew I could speak to them.”

“Blackburn College have their own student-led restaurant called Scholars Restaurant which offers students on the Catering and Hospitality programmes an amazing chance to gain lots of practical experience on a regular basis. This was definitely one of the great benefits of studying at Blackburn College and having lots of practical experience helped to boost my confidence and gave me extra things to put on my CV.”

“We were also encouraged and helped to find other work experience: I worked at the Premier Inn in Blackburn, working in the kitchen and with housekeeping– this was great because you gained a real insight into what to expect within the industry. I also worked at Northcote Café and Eachstep Blackburn which is a care home in Blackburn. Here I made breakfast and dinner for residents and helped with the serving and delivery of meals - I thoroughly enjoyed working here.”
